I use to have the Sigma 70-210 2.8 Manual Focus Nikon…that lens was tack sharp. I used on a Nikon d70 & that was excellent as far as image quality. The lens is alot heavier than the newer lens. I am trying find one just to keep but is hard. I should not have sold it!!

@izleep Yes this lens has an autofocus motor inside so it will autofocus with the D5000 and D3000

@SuperMartijn1 it will work with a Sigma-branded teleconverter. I don’t think it will with a Nikon one.

Those were shot actually shot with the D90 and believe it or not at ISO 800! The D90 is incredibly sensitive to light.

Also I envy you and your schools lighting. I had to shoot with my D2H at ISO 1600, f/2.8 and could only get 1/250 on my shutter. Looks like you can get over 1/500 on those basketball photos. What ISO value did you have?

I recently purchased the sigma from KEH and returned it 3 days after I got it. Now I have the nikon 80-200 AF-D and let me tell you there is a big difference in build and image quality. I would recomend saving up the extra $300 and go for the nikon. But I know some people just can’t pay that much (I hardly could) and if the sigma is in you price range it’s a great lens for around $550 used.

Check ebay for straps. Theres a wide selection and I’m sure you’ll find what you need. I got mine from Ritz Camera which unfortunately is out of business now
