To put it as simply as possible, the most noticeable differences are:
    1. DSLR lenses are physically bigger
    2. DSLR lenses are removable from the body

i think you should go for the Nikon P90 =]
but i believe that Canon is the better brand
Nikon has more optical zoom and more mega pixels BUT canon has 20 optical zoom and 10 megapixels with many features =] i recently bought a canon powershot SX10 IS and it has not let me down yet .
    choose wisely =]

Just to reply to your Question pleasantcrew the SX20IS blows the SX10IS out of the water by 1000 to 1.
    In Quality… Video and PICS.

    D90 nikon is top….

But a bit pricey I`d go with the SX20IS it`s top of the line.

I’ve got a question.I am silly when its about cameras and objectives but in some months i want to buy me a good one.I thought Canon 400DSLR woul be a good camera, isn’t it?
But my friend told me that a powershotcamera is better than a reflex camera ’cause the camera has got all objectives so you have to change them never.
I want to ask you what you are thinking about it and if you can help me?
    Hope you understand me
    Julia

Yep, use thre macro mode for closeups, and for portraits, select the smallest f-number in aperture priority and zoom in a lot! I have a tutorial about this at my website dslrtips . com…

So, if i want a blurry effect for a close object..the best way to get the effect would be using Macro/Super Macro ??

And for DOF of a not close object would be using the zoom and aperture/shutter speed ?

    Thnks :)

Im using the SX10 is though
