Olympus Evolt E410 10MP Digital Camera

September 29th, 2009 admin Leave a comment Go to comments

Life is in the details, and the EVOLT E-410 was built to let you capture all of them. The Live View LCD is an uncommonly cool feature for a digital SLR. And when you experience the ergonomic feel and lightweight portability of this camera, you’ll want to take it everywhere. Whether the important details of your life are smiling faces or far-away places, you’ll capture pristine, detailed memories, thanks to a proven Dust Reduction System and powerful 10-megapixel imager.

When Olympus announced that their small E-400 digital SLR would not be sold within the US, the collective groan could’ve been heard in room. Following all, we Americans want little D-SLRs as well! Thankfully somebody at Olympus was listening, plus they brought the E-400′s replacement — the E-410 — towards the rest of us. This small SLR, priced from $699, has very a couple of tricks up its sleeve. They consist of:

* A 10 Megapixel LiveMOS sensor

* “Live view” on the higher resolution 2.5″ Liquid crystal display show

* A brighter optical viewfinder than the E-330, Olympus’ final reside look at D-SLR

* Dirt reduction program as discovered on all Olympus E-series cameras

* New TruePic III picture processor promises much better photo high quality and quicker overall performance

* Dual xD and CompactFlash memory card slots

Should you get either from the lens kits then you will be 1 from the very first to utilize the new 14-42 and 50-140 mm lenses. These aren’t very as fancy as a number of Olympus’ other lenses (they are not climate sealed) but they are much more than sufficient for most individuals. You are able to, obviously, use any from the other FourThirds lenses about the marketplace, most of that are created by Olympus. The camera includes a 2X crop aspect, so what ever lens you attach will possess the field-of-view twice that from the focal variety from the lens.

The Olympus EVOLT E-410 may be the smallest digital SLR about the marketplace. Created like a “step up” for point-and-shoot camera users, the E-410 functions a reside look at Liquid crystal display, lots of scene modes, along with a fairly easy-to-use interface. The camera has some hits and some misses, and it is at its greatest whenever you tweak the options a little. As soon as you’ve carried out that you will discover a camera that holds up nicely against the entry-level competition. Should you get together with the small size (I do not), then the E-410 is nicely really worth a appear.

Pros:

* Superb photo high quality should you tweak the options

* Minimal music till ISO 1600 (unless you turn away the music filtration system)

* Really small entire body (by D-SLR standards); nicely constructed for that cost

* Reside look at on Liquid crystal display enables you to determine 100% from the frame, preview white stability and exposure, and verify concentrate (but see problems beneath)

* Dirt reduction program

* Complete manual controls

* Tons of scene modes (excellent for individuals migrating from point-and-shoots)

* RAW picture format supported

* Snappy overall performance in most places

* Good continuous shooting mode

* Dual memory card slots

* Optional (and costly) underwater housing obtainable

* USB 2. Higher Speed protocol supported

Cons:

* Soft pictures at default options (adjust the music filtration system to fix that); colors a little muted too

* Camera tends to underexpose, occasionally by a great deal

* Lack of correct hand can make camera hard to hold (in my viewpoint)

* Reside look at function not as robust as on the fixed-lens camera: look at is grainy and sluggish, hard to determine outside and in reduced light; adds 1 second of shutter lag if autofocus is on

* Reduced light focusing a small slow; camera appears to “give up” some times

* Setting customized white stability is much more hard than it ought to be

* RAW conversion software program softens pictures, even when music filtration system is turned away about the camera

* Flimsy plastic door more than battery compartment comes away effortlessly

* No AC adapter or battery grip obtainable

    Inaccurate comments.
    One part I will comment on is the BS about the
    Olympus being “a lot smaller than my Pentax”.
    Pentax he is referring to as being the smallest when he bought it was the
    Pentax DL/DL1/DL2. “A lot smaller”??? The ONLY thing that makes
    the E-410 (or E-420) about 4% smaller than the Pentax DL/DL1/DL2 is its LACK of a grip.

    Continued in next paragraph.

    I Just bought this camera and I am having an issue with the flash. I don’t have a lot of knowledge of this camera and it is my first Dslr. But when i am areas where there is low light and I put up my flash. It does a series of pre-flashes. i can understand one. But sometimes it does like 4 or five. And it takes forever to take the actual pic. I don’t know why it does this. Can anyone help me out with that? its really annoying.

    hi just to let you know that the series of flash is to allow the camera to focus on the image when the final flash is being shot … as the light exposure during night time is very low the focusing rate is difficult to get the exposure… therefore normally 2-3 short flash till the final flash … you can remove it in the setting by switching off the automatic thingy which i not very familar

    Switching of what automatic thingy? are you saying I can stop the pre flashes? Even when auto pop up flash is not on it does this. And it is kinda of distubing to the soubject since the flash is bright. and its flashing so many times. They often loose the pose for a but because their cut off guard

    the only problem with these reviews is that he’s trying to sell it to you, so nothing is ever bad

    THAT’S IT. When you hold the DL/DL1/DL2 it has a great feel. The E-410/E-420 feels like a plastic toy. If you think it will be like an E-3 THINK again.
    How do I know? I have both DL2 & E-410 (and an E-3).
    Further, if you place the smallest lens Pentax offers on the DL/DL1/DL2, which is their 40mm, and on the E-410/E-420 it is the 25mm, the Pentax is SMALLER, and that’s with the nice built in grip.

    About 4 seconds. Not bad I love this little camera. I got it with the two lens kit for $200 cuz it was last one at hhgregg, which i normally hate(i used to work there). But it usually runs like $300-$400 I think.

    You can only look at one or the other, not both at the same time. It is an SLR so it has to move the lens.

    Movie mode is generally a sign of a crappier camera, unless it’s in one of the 4,000 pound Canons.
