Any rechargeable batteries will be just fine but we do not recommend people using rechargeable batteries because it can cause malfunction to the SB-600 due to power static from those batteries. Durable and heavy-duty batteries such as Duracell Coppertop Alkaline (yes, it is sold internationally) is the best battery of choice.

If you don’t have money to buy sb’s which i know our worth it, can you use just reg studio lights, and if so what do you think i will need and also if you use pocketwizard.

Thanks heaps mate, very much appreciated, I think I will be investing in the SB-600 this weekend, as for flash photography indoors, no issue there.

    Any lenses you would recommend?

First, you need to check to see if your church allows flash indoors (most don’t nowadays).

Yes, the SB-600 will do just fine if you use flash diffuser and off-camera flash bracket (with off-camera cable).

Or start investing in fast prime lenses and crank the ISO up. :)

    Hi Guys,

    Anyone out there to help?,

I have a Nikon D60, it’s great bit of gear, but I hate using the in-built flash, I have the Flash Diffuser, but it’s still not enough, I’m after the SB-600 for the final bit of gear for good amateur photo’s.. would the D60 with the SB-600 be a decent combo for dark situations? e.g, a Church for a baptism etc.. I have the lenses I need, just not a good flash (i’m only amateur at this stage and not going pro)

    Thank you!

I only wished it could have been the same photo but with different angles of the flash light, so we’d see how the flash works differently with different angles.

    Yes… and no.

It depends on what you’re taking pictures of, what aperture you’re using, what ISO you’re using, what shutter speed you’re using, and how many flash power is needed.

The SB-800 and SB-900 have RPT, which is very similar to high speed shooting but it fires multiple flashes while one single slow shot (1/15s or slower).

I don’t know why it’s critical to you and the SB-600 won’t be able to handle it, look into SB-800 / SB-900 with SD-8A Pack or Quantum T5D with turbo charger.

Everything is nice BUT! how many fires in second it can done. One ,or two ,or five or six.Speed is only reason to buy this stuff. So my camera fire 3 shots in second. Can this SB-600 follow this speed and how long time it can fire before recharge.

ok, that was alot of help. i will think of investing in a SB-600.

You could use the SB-400 but don’t expect it to do as much as SB-600, SB-800, or SB-900. With those big bad boys, it gives you much more control especially if you’re using the P6000 in Manual mode.

    August 16th, 2009 at 00:02 | #21

ok thanks, so do you think for a p6000 a SB-400 will be a smarter speedlight for that camera?

  22. Lilkiwiguy87
    August 16th, 2009 at 00:02 | #22

One word answer, yes, it is fully compatible with the P6000 but be very careful, don’t drop your camera otherwise it will rip the hot shoe mount off.

will this speed light work with the nikon p6000?

Do you mean stroboscopic feature, where the flash goes off multiple times in one single exposure?

If so, unfortunately, the SB-600 does not have this feature available, only on SB-800 or SB-900. Stroboscopic (aka RPT) are for creative effects and scientific purposes such as allowing the user to see how things move in a single exposure. Pour a bottle of 10 M&M candies while the exposure, with stroboscopic effect, it makes it look like there’s more than 100 M&M candies, it’s fun.

I think I already know the answer and maybe this is a dumb question but can the SB 600 strobe like the SB 800? What is the strobing used for? Is it something to be desired? or is it just cool looking? Thanks
