What Are Peoples Thoughts On Panasonic Lumix DMC-FS3 Digital Camera Versus Sony Cybershot Dscs750?

I have been shopping for a digital camera and really have no knowledge about cameras. I bought the Panasonic as my first digital camera and was told it was great for the price compared to others. I guess. I wanted to spend under $150, but get something descent. Did I make a good decision? Or would the Sony powershot DSCS750 have been a better camera. The whole digital camera thing is very foreign to me.

Panasonic Lumix DMC-FS3 Digital Camera

In many ways, the all-new Panasonic Lumix DMC-FS3 – a new offering inside a totally new series of versions through the manufacturer – tries to become the best of each worlds, offering ultracompact style at what almost qualifies as a budget compact cost. Within the flood of new high-profile tech from Panasonic, this diminutive camera has largely been cruising under the radar for the past month, but after much more than a week of shooting with the FS3, I’ve a feeling that this might be going to change.

Pros:

* Great colour processing with lots of control

* Build quality and style amongst the best for this price

* Impressive high ISO performance

* Excellent point-and-shoot usability with very good outcomes

Cons:

* Menus can be clunky in places

* Red-eye poorly controlled at times

* Gentle optics equals soft pictures

* Timings not usually first-tier

Sony Cyber-shot DSCS750 7.2 MP Digital Camera

With its basic design and small size, the Sony Cyber-shot S750 is exactly what it looks like: a basic point-and-shoot digital camera geared toward novices, anybody who doesn’t wish to fiddle too much with exposure controls. The DSC-S750 fits into pockets and small purses quite well, and its low-profile front makes it easy to stash and go. Providing a 3x optical zoom lens, a large 2.5-inch LCD keep track of and 7.2-megapixel (efficient) CCD, the S750 features the fundamentals you need for regular picture-taking at a reduced MSRP of US$149.99.

The Sony Cyber-shot DSC-S750 is really a pretty fundamental point-and-shoot digital camera. It does offer a 7.2-megapixel CCD, a 3x optical zoom lens and enhanced Sony functions like Face Detection and an array of preset scene modes. However, image high quality is lacking, and problems with picture noise and colour accuracy should push buyers to look at other cameras in this class. The Sony S750′s poor printed results are tough to obtain around, with even ISO 100 pictures appearing soft in 8×10-inch prints.

    Yes you made a good choice, the Panasonic has a better LCD and a bit higher resolution as well as a choice in movie clip size. If I had to pick between the two I would have pick the Panasonic as well. My next pick would have been for the TZ5 with a 10x zoom, but that’s just me.

    you made the right choice here between these two. Better image quality overall and you are not bound to Sony’s proprietary storage cards, called memory stick… NO other camera maker or device that uses flash memory uses memory stick but Sony. With panasonic’s choice to use the standard SD card…you are free to take the card and put it in just about any pc, tv, and personal media devices. Enjoy your panny!

    i suggest you on Sony Cybershot DSCW120
    7.2-megapixel Super HAD CCD captures enough detail for photo-quality 14 x 19-inch prints
    Carl Zeiss 4x optical zoom lens; Dynamic Range Optimization
    Face Detection; Smart Zoom feature
    HDTV compatibility; HD slide show with music
    15 MB internal memory; capture images to Memory Stick Duo/Pro Duo media
    The 7.2-Megapixel Cyber-shot(R) W120 features innovative Smile Shutter technology, which photographs smiles as they happen. A Carl Zeiss 4x optical zoom lens provides high quality close-ups, while Sony’s Double Anti-Blur solution gives you crisp, clear images. The advanced Sony Super HAD(TM) (Hole Accumulated Diode) CCD design allows more light to pass to each pixel, increasing sensitivity and reducing noise. Because an off-center subject can make your shot more interesting, a 9-point auto focus measures the focus at 9 precision points instead of 5 giving you greater creative freedom to compose your image. The large, bright 2.5″ TFT LCD display makes it easy to compose shots, check results, and read menus in sharp natural color, even in bright sunlight. Face Detection technology automatically controls focus, exposure, color, and flash to help reveal faces in shadows, make skin tones look more natural, reduce red-eye, and eliminate harsh facial glare, so your photos bring out every expression on every face in every shot. Super SteadyShot(R) Image Stabilization compensates for shaky hands and minimizes blur with optical sensors that detect camera movement and send correcting signals to a stabilization lens. Aperture Range – Auto (F2.8-F14 with ND Filter) / Program Auto (F2.8-F14 with ND Filter) Shutter Speed – Auto (1/4 – 1/1,600) / Program Auto (1 – 1/1,600) Flash Modes – Auto, Forced On, Forced Off, and Slow Synch Movie Modes – MPEG VX Fine with Audio (640×480 at 30fps), MPEG VX Standard with Audio (640×480 at 16fps), Presentation (320 x 240 at 8fps) Scene Modes – Auto, Easy Shooting, Program Auto, Movie, High Sensitivity, Twilight, Twilight Portrait, Soft Snap, Landscape, Beach, Snow, Fireworks, and Smile Shutter Operating System – Microsoft 2000 Professional, Me, XP Home and Professional, Macintosh OS 9.1, 9.2, OS X (10.0-10.4)
