Most people just want to pick up a nice, brand new camera and just take pictures. Do not do this, as the manual will teach you key points you need to know, and that you would not discover on your own. Also, be sure to keep the manual close by, in case you need to refer to it any time.
Every time you take a photo, check it on the LCD. Remember, it is digital, and that is what the LCD there is for. You are able to view the photo right after you have taken it. If you do not like the photo, delete it, and take another.
Friends and family are your best bet. In spite of the wonder that the internet is, there’s no substitute for simple word of mouth. Chances are you know someone who has gone though lots of junk sites trying to find helpful information. Use them as your own personal Google. Ask what sites they’ve found to be most helpful.
Lastly, take as many photos are your heart desires. There is no need to worry about wasting photos with digital cameras. It’s digital, remember? You can delete whatever you want with the click of a button, so take advantage of this. I have found myself after a big event wishing I had taken more photos, and I am sure many of you have been in this situation also. So take tons of photos so this does not happen to you!
